How To Get A PayPal Account

PayPal is one of the top online banking and merchant services companies which offers a wide array of different features for both personal use and businesses. If you have an eBay account and purchase any products from the online auction site you will definitely need a PayPal account to make payment at some point. Fortunately, it is incredibly easy to get a PayPal account and only requires a few steps. If you wish to create your own PayPal account then follow the steps outlined below.

First, go to PayPal.com and click on the "Sign-Up "button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. There are a number of different links on the main page but this one will take you directly to the account registration area to create your account.

At this point you'll need to specify your country of origin and language spoken which will make the registration process tailored to your needs. It will also conform with the regulatory and financial requirements of your country.

If you wish to create a basic account, click "Get Started" in the box on the left hand side under "PayPal for personal use". Personal accounts are used primarily for individuals who wish to transfer or receive funds such as paying for products or receiving gifts and tips. If you already have an account you can upgrade to the "Premier" option by clicking "Upgrade Now" on the right side. The final option is "PayPal for business and nonprofits" account type which will create a PayPal ID and provide a place for a company name.

The remaining account creation process is similar to any other online merchant environment where you will fill out all personal information including your e-mail address, full name, address, phone number and password.

Once you have filled out all relevant information you can check the "I have read and agree to the following" box. It is important to read the "User Agreement", "Privacy Policy" and "Acceptable Use Policy" since this information outlines your responsibilities and rights when getting a PayPal account.

After you submit the form and have completed the registration process you will click "Agree and Create Account" after a final review. This is to double check your information for accuracy and agree with the terms of service.

In the future, if you find the basic account to be too limiting you can always upgrade to a PayPal Premier account. This will allow you to accept other forms of payment such as credit cards and debit cards. These transactions will also have slightly lower fees than the basic account.

PayPal is like any other financial institution and the money in your account needs to be protected. Keep your PayPal ID and associated password in a secure place and do not share this information with anyone else. Try to avoid using public computers where your information can be viewed by others and stored cookies can be accessed. Also verify that every website you visit is secured with the "https://" prefix which encrypts all information transmitted to and from your computer to a website's servers.
